Team Australia Code of Conduct

Athlete & Coach Expectations

  • Meeting Attendance: All team members are required to attend scheduled team meetings, briefings, and training sessions unless excused by the Team Manager.
  • Mutual Support: Support your teammates before, during, and after their bouts. We win and lose as a team.
  • Sportsmanship: Display respect for opponents, officials, and volunteers at all times. Shake hands, bow, and show humility in victory and grace in defeat.
  • Appropriate Dress: Team uniforms must be worn at all official events. Dress professionally and modestly when representing Team Australia.
  • Respect for Thai Culture: This event is held in Thailand. Show respect for local customs, traditions, and religious practices at all times.
  • Language & Behavior: No profanity, aggression, or disrespectful behavior towards officials, coaches, or other athletes. Maintain composure at all times.
  • Social Media: Represent Team Australia positively on all platforms. No negative posts about opponents, officials, or the event.
  • Outdoor Training: If you choose to train outdoors, ensure it's in a permitted area. Do not train in public areas such as the street, out the front of businesses, or by a hotel pool. Consider those around you and find a suitable public area such as an approved park, recreational area or gym.
  • Making Weight: You are expected to make weight on registration day (25th) and then each day you compete. Typically sauna suits and weight cutting is not allowed in the WBC venue as they do not endorse weight cutting techniques. If using these practices, ensure you are in a private space, away from WBC officials.

Parents & Supporters

  • Support, Don't Coach: Leave coaching to the corner team. Your role is to support and encourage.
  • Respect Officials: Do not argue with referees or judges. If you have concerns, speak privately with the Team Manager.
  • Positive Environment: Model good sportsmanship for young athletes. No aggressive or negative behavior.
  • Stay in Designated Areas: Follow event rules regarding spectator areas and restricted zones.

Fight Result Disputes

Parents and fighters will need to determine if they would like to dispute any fight results immediately post the bout and tell a head coach or team manager/coordinator.

Fighters are responsible for the fees required.

See appeals process below β†’

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in removal from the team, disqualification from competition, or other disciplinary action as determined by WBC Muay Thai Australia management.
